Manager/Head Coach Information

Have you thought about being a Manager or Head Coach for your Daughter’s Softball Team? Being a Manager and/or Head Coach is one of the most rewarding experiences you will have! Let’s not joke around it is a lot of work and can be stressful to teach all of the necessary information for the entire team to have a fun season. However, without our Managers and Head Coaches the NPGS Spring Season would not happen.

Below is a little bit of information about the roles and responsibilities for a Manager and Head Coach:

The Manager has overall responsibility for the team and all team members’ actions on the field and at any Newbury Park Girls Softball event, at which they are directed to remain together as a team. The Manager represents the team in communications with the umpires and the opposing team. In addition, the Manager directs playing activities, training, discipline and conduct of all team members and can assist in the coaching of the team. It is important to remember that you have a team to help you! Your “team members” include the Coaches, Team Parent, the Chaperone(s), Scorekeeper(s) and parents. It is also the Manager’s responsibility to ensure there is ALWAYS at least one female present at all practices and games.

The Head Coach will help train, instruct and teach players the fundamentals of softball through the practicing of various skills that will be ultimately utilized in the games. The Head Coach is responsible for helping to instill and then maintain the players in a healthy, positive attitude at all times, and has the overall responsibility for the team in the absence of the Manager.
