Fall Ball FAQs

Which Division (Age Range) Should the Player Play in?
You should enroll in the division you will be playing in for the following Spring Season. If they were a second year 6U.. they would play in 8U Fall Ball.

Can I request to play with friends?
Yes, you can place a special request to play with a friend, as long as you are both in the same division, though there are no guarantees. The NPGS Fall Ball Coordinator will try their best to match friends together on a team.

Can Managers pick their own players?
Yes, if there is a pre-arranged mutual agreement between a player’s parent and manager, that manager can submit a list of specific players to be on their team.

Will Fall Ball teams be balanced?
Since Fall Ball is a noncompetitive program that does not keep standings, there is not a player draft process to balance teams. Managers can select their own team of players. This applies to all other city Fall Ball teams entered into NPGS Friday Night Diamonds. Local Newbury Park managers in a division are encouraged to be open minded to work together with the Fall Ball Coordinator to address any concerns or attempts to better balance teams.

Can a team choose to play in both the NPGS Friday Night Diamonds and the local area Sunday Fall Ball Programs?
Yes, that is possible! That will be up to the individual managers and their teams to decide, as well as if there is enough open space to play in the respective leagues. Please realize that costs per player will be higher to play in both leagues. If you are a manager interested in registering your team for the Sunday Fall Ball league, please send an email to: Winterball@newburyparkgirlssoftball.org and the NPGS Fallball coordinator will contact you with the registration information.

Is there a Fall Ball program for the 6U division?
Unfortunately, there is not a Fall Ball program for the 6U division at this time.

How much is the cost to play?
The cost will vary per team, based on the Fall program(s) that the team chooses to play in, the frequency & times of their practices and uniform costs. All of these costs are team dependent. Usually, most teams do as much as possible to keep costs low (e.g. tie die t shirt uniforms). In general, the typical costs are approximately $150 - $200 per player. Again, NPGS is not involved in collecting or handling player fees to their team or manager.

How often are practices?
Practice days/times will vary by team, depending on how often and when the team decides to conduct practices and the ability to secure field permits. Given that girls play other sports in the Fall, most teams have just 1 practice per week.

I’m a Manager of a team looking to play in NPGS Friday Night Diamonds. Can my team have players that have not played in a USA Softball league in the spring and/or are new to the sport?
Yes, that is possible; as long as those players are age range eligible. However there will be an extra fee charged for that player to be registered to USA Softball to cover the player with insurance. The base team entry fee for NPGS Friday Night Diamonds program relies on each player having USA Softball insurance coverage in order to cover accident and liability insurance. If you have new players that do not have USA Softball coverage (USAS Id cards), then you will be assessed a fee. The specific fee amount will be determined later in the year.

I’m a Manager of a team looking to play in NPGS Friday Night Diamonds. Can my team have players mixed from various local USA Softball leagues?
Yes, that is possible, though managers will be responsible for collecting and submitting their team’s USA softball id cards to prove age eligibility and insurance coverage.
