NPGS Friday Night Diamonds Fall Softball
The NPGS Friday Night Diamonds Fall Softball season runs from September through early November and is available to teams with players who will be in 8U through 14U next spring. One game per week will be played at local Newbury Park fields on Friday nights, with teams typically practicing just once per week. There are no standings or trophies for the Fall Ball season; participants are playing because of their love of the game and desire to play.
Fall Ball also provides a great opportunity to keep your existing skills sharp in the off season, as well as develop new skills and try new positions. If you are interested in learning to play the pitcher or catcher positions, for instance, Fall Ball is a great time to start!
If you are moving up a division in the next Spring season, Fall Ball is a great time to play in that new division to become familiar with the new division rules and get used to players pitching and potentially bigger ball sizes, before the Spring season starts.
Fall Ball is governed by USA Softball. NPGS is one of several leagues that participate in a program to provide players with additional opportunities to play and practice through the cooperation of coaches and participating teams from the surrounding area.
Individual coaches form teams based on an open sign-up process rather than a draft format and each team is responsible for paying all of its own fees. NPGS does not fund any Fall Ball teams. The number of available teams is based on the number of volunteer managers and interested players. NPGS will do everything possible to assist in matching players to teams. While the intent is for every player to find a team, NPGS cannot not guarantee that outcome. Every effort will be made to secure managers so that every girl who registers will be placed on a team.
