Spring Registration FAQs

When is the playing season for Newbury Park Girls Softball?
The Spring recreational season begins with evaluations in January. Games for all divisions begin in February and the 6U division plays every Saturday. Games for 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U are one during the week (beginning at 5:30pm) and one game on Saturday until the season ends.

When can I register my daughter(s)?
Online registration begins October and is open until January. Beginning January, late registrations may be accepted prior to team formation based on available space and with an additional $25.00 late fee assessed.

What is the cost for registration?
Fees are based on the division in which your player will participate and currently range from $175-$250 per player. We offer a sibling discount of $10 per player.

In what age division does my daughter play?
A player’s age on September 1st of the current year determines the age classification in which the player is eligible to participate. Refer to Age Divisions for more information.

Is a try-out required?
There are two player evaluation, or "skills assessment," days for the Spring season, where all of the players registered are evaluated by the coaches and managers in their age division. It is required that all girls in divisions 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U participate in one (not both) of these evaluations. 6U Division players do not participate in the player evaluation Evaluation dates are typically scheduled in early January, please see the NPGS Calendar for more information.

My child must play for a specific coach or with a friend for carpool reasons. Will that be a problem?
No league can guarantee that a child will play on a specific team, and our league is no different in this regard. In divisions 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U, players are selected through a draft in an effort to keep the teams balanced.  In the lower division(6U), parents are advised to make their requests and preferences in writing at the time of registration.

What will I have to buy before the playing season starts?
The league provides a team jersey and socks as part of your enrollment fee. The players need to provide their own pants, sliding shorts or knee pads, a glove and a pair of cleats. We do have some helmets and bats available to coaches for their team’s use, but it is recommended that each player have at least their own helmet.

When do practices begin?
Spring season practices may begin in early February. Each coach will determine the day(s) of the week and time of the practice.

What is your refund policy?
Our goal at NPGS is to be as fair and flexible as possible with regards to player drops and refunds, keeping in mind that NPGS must also balance the needs of the league and its other players as we anticipate registration numbers and plan for the upcoming season.

With this in mind, all refund requests must be submitted to the Player Agent via email at playeragent@newburyparkgirlssoftball.org using the NPGS Drop Refund Form  and must be received prior to the player draft/team formation date, which is determined by the NPGS Board and posted on the league website calendar. No refund will be granted as of the player draft/team formation date, no exceptions.

NPGS Drop Refund forms will be reviewed by the Player Agent and, if complete and timely, submitted to the Treasurer for payment. Please allow 2-4 weeks for receipt of refund.
